President Trump on Wednesday addresses nation as US and Iran tensions rise, he affirmed public the eagerness to de-escalate the conflict, backing away from imminent war after Iran’s missile attack.
Trump also informed public a day after the Iranian missiles dropped on bases housing American troops in Iraq, that there were no Americans harmed and no casualties reported. The said attack of Iran that fired ballistic missiles at two Iraqi military bases housing was assumed to be an act of vengeance by Iran after its top general Qasem Soleimani was killed in a US airstrike in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad.
President Trump stated in a televised statement from the Grand Foyer of the White House according to The New York Times “Iran appears to be standing down, which is a good thing for all parties concerned and a very good thing for the world,”
“The United States,” he added, “is ready to embrace peace with all who seek it.” The statement was a great indication and served hope for many to cease any potential war.
Many people have taken Trump’s statement positively as it seems to be giving a room for the conflict to be solved in a diplomatic way as he backs away from further military battle with Iran, considering all the people that will suffer from the effect of any potential war.
According to New York Times, “President Hassan Rouhani of Iran made clear that his country still saw its mission over the long run as driving the United States out of the Middle East after the killing of General Suleimani, backed up to what Mr. Rouhani wrote on Twitter “Our final answer to his assassination will be to kick all US forces out of the region.”
