Sharing is caring!

This March 28, the most coveted awards night for the best restaurants on the continent will take place in the food tech hub of Asia.

After three long years, the most-awaited full-scale, in-person gastronomic event attended by food enthusiasts around the world makes a return to Singapore. For the past few years, Asia’s 50 Best Awards were only revealed online or through limited broadcast. However, this year, with restrictions eased and the border finally lifted, the event will take a full circle in the Lion City.

First held in Singapore in 2013, Asia’s 50 Best Awards make a comeback to celebrate once again the outstanding culinary diversity of Asia. “It is fitting that we are returning to the city where Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants was launched in 2013 and further reinforces our original aim: to celebrate great restaurants, great chefs, and reward culinary excellence across the continent,” as stated by the Director of Content for Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, William Drew.

What to Expect in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2023

Aside from the awards given to restaurateurs and chefs, for this year, Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2023 will have an Asia-based version of the 50 Best Signature Sessions. A first of its kind, this will allow the world to see talented chefs work hand in hand with local talent in a series of collaborative, one-night-only dining events. What’s more exciting is that this will be open to the public in Singapore from March 25 to 29.

For Asia’s Best Restaurant 2023, viewers and participants can expect to see the region’s best produce and cooking at the traditional Chef’s Feast—where the finest cooks in the region get to share their personal stories and experiences in the field. As a red-carpet event, part of the line-up of activities includes some interviews and a cocktail reception during the awards ceremony.

Aside from hailing the 50 Best Restaurants of Asia, special awards will also be given during the ceremony for Asia’s Best Female Chef, Icon of Asia, and American Express One to Watch. Also, the first-ever winner of Beronia Asia’s Best Sommelier Award will be presented. And, as is customary, restaurants ranked 51-100 will be revealed prior to the main ceremony.

Can’t Join Onsite? Here’s Where and How to Watch Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants

This year’s Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants will be live-streamed on Facebook and YouTube. The event is made possible through the collaboration of the Singapore Tourism Board, the host destination partner for the 2023 edition, and is sponsored by S. Pellegrino & Acqua Panna.

For a quick recap, a total of seven Singaporean restaurants made it to the top 50 list in 2022: Odette (#8), Meta (#20), Les Amis (#23), Zen (#37), Labyrinth (#40), Burnt Ends (#41), and Cloudstreet (#44), while Japan’s Den bagged the top spot—becoming the first Japanese restaurant to be named since. Before coming back to Singapore, the previous edition of the event was held in other cities around Asia, including Tokyo, Bangkok, and Hong Kong.
