LOOK: ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ Leads the Film Independent Spirit Awards

November 29, 2022

Sharing is caring!

With eight nominations, the multiverse-hopping adventure film leads the nomination followed by Tar, Aftersun, Women Talking, and Bones and All.

Before November ended, the Independent Spirit Awards, which is dedicated to independent filmmakers, announced the final list of nominees for this year’s ceremony. Earning eight nods, The Daniel’s Everything Everywhere All At Once leads the tally with nominations in Best Feature, Best Director, Best Lead Performance, Best Supporting Performance (Jamie Lee Curtis and Ke Huay Quan), Best Breakthrough Performance, Best Screenplay, and Best Editing.

It can be remembered that Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert’s Everything Everywhere All At Once made groundbreaking history with its kind of Cinderella story of earning more than $100 million at the global box office against its $25 million budget.

Behind Everything Everywhere All At Once were Tod Field’s Tár garnering seven nominations, and Charlotte Well’s Aftersun, with five. Other top contenders include Sarah Polley’s Women Talking, Luca Guadagnino’s Bones and All, and Our Father, the Devil.

Here’s What You Have to Know About the Independent Spirit Awards

Founded in 1984, the organization was created to celebrate the milestones of independent filmmakers. In its 38th edition, the organization raised the budget cap from $22.5 million to $30 million for the main prizes and $1 million for the John Cassavetes Award. For this year, the award-giving body opted for more gender-neutral acting awards – with 10 main acting categories now having 10 nominees each.
